Item Description
As the Five Elements is a crucial aspect of all studies of Chinese Metaphysics, Joey begins the lesson by introducing the Five Elements. Then, he explains how each element corresponds to general personality traits, and how the visibility of each of these elements on the face reveals a person’s character. These elements are explored in detail:
- Fire
- Earth
- Metal
- Water
- Wood
Further on, Joey explains how each part of the face actually corresponds to the individual elements. The key is to find balance between all the elements, which in effect means a balance between the various areas of the face, and the facial features. For instance, what contributes to personality issues or even schizophrenia? The elements have something to do with that.
Joey then talks about the Five Mountains, which are divided into:
- Southern
- Northern
- Central
- Eastern
- Western
These elements are directly represented by certain areas of the face, and Joey explains what you should look out for when analysing these features. In addition, he explains what it means when those mountains are considered bad. The lesson concludes with Joey encouraging students to practice analysing the Five Elements and the Five Mountains on their own face (and others) until they understand the meaning of the Elements and the Mountains as they relate to the face.
