Many people are confused between the two and often, it's not really their fault.
This article is for all of those who were unable to attend my January 11 talk.
Naturally, I am focusing on a few key issues as I cannot possibly cover everything
in this article.
From February 4 onwards, we will enter Period 8. I know many students and practitioners
have been concerned about the phenomenon of Period 8. Contrary to popular belief,
I am of the opinion that many Period 7 houses are good for Period 8. So my advice
is to stop worrying so much and to take proactive action to CAPITALISE on the
potential that Period 8 holds.
As Period 8 rolls onto the scene, Gen Gua is the ruling Gua for the next 20
years. It symbolizes, among many things, the rise of new, innovative developments.
Gen Gua will have great respect for traditions. Gen Gua in the Early Heaven
form is Qian Gua - we can expect Feng Shui interest moving more towards classical
roots, solid foundation, sound theory and historical references. Gen Gua in
the Later Heaven form is Zhen Gua - Fresh ideas combined with the unsurpassed
vigor of youth will lead the charge into the many new successes we can expect
to see in Period 8. There will be revolutionary ideas and new breakthroughs
as a result of going back to our roots in Feng Shui and Chinese metaphysical
studies.
As for Year 2004 ...
Next year, the year of Jia Shen, signals a new beginning. Not just with the
coming of Period 8 but for many ventures and projects, this will mark a turning
point; both personally as well as for organizations. As the arbitrating Useful
God for the Jia Shen year 2004 is Water and water represents wisdom, changes
and new initiatives can be expected.
Some students have also expressed some concerns about the 5 Yellow Star being
in the Central Palace. This just means that the 5 Yellow is returning to its
original palace - referred to as Wan Gong Fook Wei in Feng Shui terms. This
signifies a sudden change but it may indicate a blessing in disguise if you
are savvy on how to turn this to your benefit.
The New Year’s BaZi Chart …
Business Outlook :
 Jia Shen is a year of
 (Heaven and Earth Fan Yin) that indicates
changes and uncertainties. Relatively similar to last year because 
(year 2003) was also a year of .
This year will represent the turning point after a very difficult period as
things will be looking up from now on. However people will have to be flexible
and adapt to uncertainties in order to succeed. Things may not turn out the
way that you expect them to.
Similarly, certain things that have been written off may bear fruit after all.
Tourism will remain as the primary source of revenue and see the biggest improvements.
Certain industries like banking, precious gems, hardware and construction will
perform better in 2004 than they did last year. Expect a number of other industries
to also improve but at a slower pace.
In year 2004, it will turn to Period 8 after 
(Coming of Spring- Feb 4). Period 8 is 
Gen Gua, 2004 will be a year of improvement as negative events will come to
a halt.
Property:
he property market will start to see changes in 2004 that may set it apart from
the previous year. Remote areas with lots of natural surroundings will be the
best performing segments for the property market. There will be a lot of people
moving house, and there will be many who will invest in the property market
in the outskirts of major towns.
Entertainment:
In 2004, a few young male artistes or artistes who are the
youngest sons in their family will become famous. Artistes who are large-sized
or possess big noses will be the most fortunate in this aspect. Those artistes
born in the year of the Tiger or Ox will encounter many changes in their career.
Female artistes who exhibit boyish appearances or tendencies to become famous
this year. There will be more artistes breaking into foreign markets this year.
Personal:
This year will be a year of many extreme changes in your personal life. There
will be more changes in the first half of the year. If you are able to adapt
to these changes, the second half of the year will be a smooth one. It was predicted
in the past year that there will be many major accidents and natural disasters.
Similarly, there will also be many accidents and natural disasters this year,
so those in the transportation industry should be extra cautious.
Miscellanous: The significance of 
This year, the year and month branch clashes  .
Shen Metal  is the Direct Resource
Star  that represents elderly,
property, housing and real estate industry. Yin Wood 
is Hurting Officer Star  that
represents student, children, youth, food and beverages industry. There will
be changes and scandals for businesses directly involved in such industries.
Education, employment
and social security will be the problem areas that will require the governments
attentions.
