A Good Coping Strategy for Your Tough Time
These days, we use BaZi for profiling to fix what needs fixing in ourselves and also to make well-informed choices to minimize or maximize any outcome that lies ahead, based on the full interactions of the chart with all the luck cycles. However, what this usually means to most people is that looking at their BaZi charts is a once-a-year affair - for their Annual Update.
Now, if you have studied BaZi, the good thing is you can use it every day!
A particularly helpful way to utilize BaZi is when you have been having a tough time for, let's say, about a week or two. [We will not bother discussing "daily" BaZi usage when times are good - let's face it, our greedy human nature is not likely to be bothered when things are on a roll.]
As an example, you have been having a stressful time relating to people and circumstances that cropped up for the week. Naturally, you should not continue to wallow in self-pity without doing anything. Instead of indulging in quick pick-me-ups (like retail therapy) or physical release (like vigorous exercise), why not take an in-depth look at your BaZi chart to figure out what is happening and how you can take charge of the situation?
To do this quickly, these 2 bases should have already been covered:
- Knowing your BaZi chart inside out.
This means that you know the full 4 pillars, the 10-year Luck Pillar, plus all the interactions (clashes, combo, etc.).
- Examining how the Annual Pillar affects your chart and Luck Pillar. [This step should have been done and "mastered" before the year commences.]
Does the Annual Pillar (say, Geng Yin) react with your Luck Pillar? Can the effects of the year enter smoothly into your BaZi chart through the Luck Pillar? Are you particularly sensitive to the year's effects, for example, by way of the year combining with your Luck Pillar? More importantly, does the Annual Pillar activate any part of your BaZi chart by way of clash, combo, duplication, etc.? Take note of which part(s) of the chart is activated as the aspects related to these pillar(s) will be sensitive to the year's ride.
Now, knowing how sensitive you are to the year and in particular, which areas of your life are affected, factor in the month that you are currently in. A month that is particularly unfavorable to the year (which has activated your chart) will often result in an unpleasant period (especially, so if the month itself also activates other pillars in your chart!).
As a simple example, say your Month Pillar is the Pig, which is activated of course by this year. In the month of the Snake (which forms a Harm and Ungrateful Punishment relationship with the Tiger year and clashes with the Pig), challenges will arise. Understand objectively the nature of these challenges.
Once you factor in all the other pillars in your chart, you will get a good picture of why things are happening as they are and your feelings about them. The important step is then to carefully examine how much you can control your actions and emotional reactions to minimize your suffering for the rest of the month. [Hint: Often having an understanding of WHY things happen is already good therapy by itself!].
