24th February 2007
It was Joey’s first visit to Sabah for the year, and he was indeed thrilled to be able to meet the people of this East Malaysian state; dubbed the `Land Below The Wind’. And what an afternoon it was, with a crowd numbering in the hundreds converging upon the Warisan Square Mall in Kota Kinabalu – all eagerly awaiting Joey to commence his talk.
Before he met his listeners, though, Joey obligingly replied to questions posed by members of the local media at the press conference that was specially arranged in conjunction with the occasion. Given that it was barely a week into the Chinese New Year, most of the questions unsurprisingly revolved around the outlook for the Year of the Fire Boar.
When Joey finally took the mike – and stage – he was greeted by a warm round of applause by Sabahans who had packed the Mall to hear what he had to share with them. And with his personable nature, he quickly established a good rapport with his audience – sharing with them the challenges, opportunities and possible pitfalls that 2007 is expected to throw their way
He also remarked that with so many lush, green hills surrounding Kota Kinabalu, the Feng Shui of Sabah’s state capital should and would invariably be favorable – as hills and mountains are regarded as `dragons’ in Feng Shui terminology, and good dragons play pivotal roles in producing people of caliber.
All too soon, the hour-long talk drew to an end as Joey took a bow to an approving roar of applause from his listeners. Quite a few took the advantage to approach him to have their queries clarified, and Joey was only too happy to get up close and personal with them.
Thank you, Sabah, and Joey will be back again!
