Face auspicious direction to increase your good luck

Date : 14 Nov 2005
PETALING JAYA: Face one of the four auspicious directions when working and sleeping – that is feng shui expert Joey Yap’s advice to those who want to optimise their good fortune.

The founder and chief executive officer of the Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics said they should also buy houses or buildings which faced a favourable compass direction.

He said a person’s qua number – the number that decides which of the four directions are good for the person – could be calculated using the Ba Zhai (Eight Mansions) feng shui system based on the year of birth.

“When working or sleeping, we should face one of the four directions so that we can maximise the effect of the particular direction,” he said.

He added that when people or their property faced favourable direction, it would activate their nien yen (love), tien yi (health), sheng qi (wealth) or fu wei (education and personal development) luck.

The US-born expert said this during his “Discover Feng Shui” talk at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) on Saturday.

Some 400 people attended the three-hour talk.

Among those present were Utar council chairman Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik and president Tan Sri Dr Ng Lay Swee.

Yap also discussed the Flying Star school of feng shui which analysis the five elements and combinations of stars in relation to a house or building.

He said all buildings could be divided into nine squares.

Each square or sector represented a number between one and nine which changes yearly and has different connotations.

“Sectors occupied by the number one, six, eight and nine enjoy different types of good luck, while the remaining sectors indicate bad luck that could cause illness, arguments, robbery or other such things.

“So if you want to optimize your good luck, use the good directions based on your qua number and utilise the favourable sectors of your house or office more often,” advised Yap.
