Laughter echoed through the function hall at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Perhaps it's an uncommon sight to find children and their parents up early to attend a one-day seminaron a Sunday, no less, instead of their usual weekend routine of relaxing and play. But as the photos accompanying this article can attest, everyone clearly had a great time.
Joey Yap, along with senior consultant Jessie Lee, and fellow speakers Dr Lawrence Walter Ng and U2 Kumar, made sure that all present had a fun-filled day at the joint seminar, Empowering Your Child's Future (EYCF). This is the first of its kind seminar that combines the expertise of these speakers to help parents boost their child's growth and development and thus, increasing their chances for success in life.
The aim is to guide parents to improve their parenting skills by learning useful tools to understand their child better and tips to empower their future, as well as strengthening the bonds with their children. Children, who attended the seminar along with their parents, also had a chance to learn more about their own personality's likes and dislikes, and effective skills for their studies.
During Joey and Jessie's sessions at the seminar, the parents and children learnt about Bazi, the Personality Analysis system under Chinese Astrology based on a person's Year, Month, Day and Hour of birth. They were taught on Joey's user-friendly method of BaZi Profiling, which can identify both parent and child's strengths and weaknesses. Such information is valuable as it can help any parent become aware of how they behave towards their children, and guide them on how they approach raising their kids.
As parents understand the child's characteristics and understand their behavior, the child can maximize his or her strengths and improve from his or her weaknesses. On another standpoint, BaZi also help children to understand their parents and thus, narrow their relationship gap. Like any other relationship, connection works both ways.
When Dr Lawrence and U2 Kumar took their turn on stage, they guided the children on useful soft skills methods to boost their studies and memory in order to elevate themselves as an 'A' student. The children were also taught the right way to approach a parent and the parents themselves learnt to understand the right way of motivating their child.
The EYCF seminar was tailored to bring parent and child together. That day proved to be a formula for success as parents who brought their children along had the opportunity to understand each other's character while learning and reading about their Personality Profile together. Several lucky attendees also received a live BaZi consult by Jessie on stage, where they learn about the child's BaZi Structures and what strengths his or her parent needs to be aware of.
Despite spending a whole day at the seminar, the fun quality time everyone had was truly worth it.
