Frequently Asked Questions
- answered by Joey Yap
Of
all the things that can have an effect on your
future as a practitioner of Feng Shui, I believe
personal growth is the greatest.
We
can talk about knowledge growth, experience growth,
business growth, but all of this probably will
not happen without personal growth. It's really
the open door to it all.
The
magic is in understanding of Feng Shui formulas.
The New Module 4 is about personal growth in Feng
Shui. Is about mastering Feng Shui both in theory
and in practice.
As
you most probably already know by now, Module
4 is around the corner. I would like to extend
you a personal invitation to participate in Module
4 this year. I am convinced that this will
be the BEST Module 4 yet.
I
have included here a list of frequently asked
questions ever since the announcement of Module
4 was made. I hope this helps you make your decision
better.
What is the difference
between Module 4 of the Feng Shui Mastery Series
and the old Module 4?
It's
been written differently, the approach to teaching
is different. Module 4 is going to be focused more on
explanation and ensuring students understand what
is being taught. My focus is going to be on understanding
the formulas being taught and showing you HOW
to use these in a given situation. You will know
HOW to apply the knowledge and techniques you
will be studying - it will not simply be a theoretical
exercise.
Are
there Group Assignments? Will you provide us with
Answers?
There
will be group assignments but not as much as before
and for each and every assignment you are given
- answers and clear explanations will be given.
We will have a analysis session on what formulas
were applied, what could have been applied and
how to make better use of the forms in your application
within the assignments and how you could have
applied this in your practice.
What's
in the Module 4 workbook? Is it going to be the same
workbook? What new topics and theories will be
covered in this Module 4?
This
Module 4 is a completely NEW class and as such, a completely
new workbook with new material, advanced notes
and new formulas will be provided to you.
A
lot more Land Form Classifications (Luan Tou)
will be covered, along with formulas that work
and can be applied for various environmental formations
to derive specific effects.
The
Water Formulas to be covered will be different
yet equally (if not more) potent to any previous
Water Formulas you may have already studied.
I've
synthesized some very important techniques from
classics like Re Di Yan (Entering Earth Eye Classics),
Ba Zhai Jin Guang Dou Lin Jing (Eight Mansions'
Golden Star Classics), Di Li Wu Jue ( Earthly
Principles Five Verses - this is where the so-called
secret Water Dragon method comes from) into easy
to learn formats for this Module 4.
Will
I gain the experience in Module 4? Is this a practical
course and not just theory?
Definitely
you will gain the experience. This is a practical
AND theoretical course. Practical and Theory are
two interdependent factors of learning and personal
growth in Feng Shui studies. You cannot just learn
theory without practice, and you cannot blindly
practice without understanding the theory behind
each method. We have lined up a selection of sites
in Malaysia for you to visit and audit (so remember
to bring your Luo Pan!) so that you can learn
how to apply the theory that you have learnt in
a real-life situation and environment.
Are
we going to be auditing the same sites?
Genting
Casino is the only site to be retained (as in previous Module 4) and even
then, we will be analyzing it from a completely
new perspective and taking a more sophisticated
approach to evaluating Genting Casino. All the
other audit sites for Module 4 will be brand new sites
which will be challenging but fun and give you
the opportunity to test your knowledge in a 100
percent practical environment, the way real Feng
Shui Masters do their jobs every day! We make it a point to audit different sites in every subsequent Module 4 every year, different places.
I didn't understand some
of the material from the old Module 4. Can I still
have my questions answered?
Where
appropriate and necessary, I will be helping students
clarify and understand many of these formulas
even better. You are very welcome to ask 'why?'
(in fact, I hope that you will take this opportunity
to get the answers to all your WHYs) and I will
explain the why's behind some of these formulas
and how they work.
What
is the difference between Module 4 and the Mastery Excursion
Series to China?
Module
4 will have the same intense, knowledge focused,
practical approach used in the Mastery Excursion
Series to China, held in the past few years. However, The
Imperial China Excursion Series focuses on looking
at Feng Shui within a very specific historical
context (the Qing Dynasty) and focusing on big
structures and broad principles. Module 4 will focus
on the urban contexts and evaluating Luan Tou
within an urban environment and looking at common
urban big structures such as malls. Imperial China
is a back-to-basics course with a more traditional
approach of studying forms, looking at structures
and minimal theoretical work. Module 4's objective
is more practice driven course, designed to polish
and enhance your consultative and auditing skills.
I
heard there are Exams in Module 4? Is this true?
Yes,
just like any other academic institutions, there
will be examinations for the Mastery Academy's
students. This is important to ensure that our
students are qualified and have understood the
material they have learnt and are indeed able
to practice to the 'Master' Level.
However,
these are not the conventional kind of examinations
universities practice where you are herded into
a hall and made to answer questions for 3 hours.
The
examinations will be conducted during the course
of Feng Shui Mastery Series Module 4 and spread
out over a period of six days during Module 4. It will
be an open book concept and is designed more to
test your ability to apply your knowledge in practical
situations rather than how many formulas you can
remember and recite in one hour!
Module 4
Students who pass the examinations will be awarded
a Feng Shui Mastery Diploma, and for those among
them who have done exceptionally well, a Feng
Shui Mastery Diploma (Distinction). You can chose
not to be examined during the course of Module 4, upon
which you will receive a Certificate of Attendance
upon completion of Module 4.
What
is this Luantou I keep hearing about?
Luan
Tou is the term for actual 'forms' Feng Shui.
There are many formulas pertaining to Luan Tou
and there are many ways of 'assessing' these Luan
Tou.. You need to learn how to see Luan Tou as
it is not something we can only do just on paper
in a classroom.
Remember,
good Feng Shui practitioners have to have 'walked
the mountains' and the ability to discern forms
is a critical aspect of San He practice. Many
practitioners today believe they've studied San
He Forms, yet not many have the opportunity to
actually 'walk' the mountains or see a real environmental
(Luan Tou) formation.
In
class, we often talk about various types of water
formation, mountain formations and land embrace.
But how many of us have actually seen a real 'huge
door' star mountain? How about a real Huge-Door
mountain in the City? How many peaks does a 'huge
door' mountain have? Who does a Tan Lang mountain
look like? How many forms does it have? Is there
really 'mountains' in a City? How do find these
forms? That's what Module 4 is going to be all about!
The
study of 'Luan Tou' or 'Form School' as it is
properly known today is very much lacking in the
curriculum of modern feng shui studies. I've designed
the new Module 4 program to fit this need - the need
to study real mountain and water formations, verifying
complex San He and San Yuan formulas visually.
I
already know Flying Stars and BaZhai - surely
that's enough?
Flying
Stars and BaZhai is for internal Feng Shui. Even
if you've gotten the BEST stars at the door, and
they are your bestsdirections - if the environment
does not facilitate 'Qi', your best stars and
best directions will not work. What is this 'environment'
that we keep hearing about? It's the Forms that
surround the area.
Feng
Shui is about harnessing the Qi from the environment.
Your internal arrangement (be it according to
Flying Stars OR Eight Mansions) is to facilitate
and enhance this Qi. The big question is - HOW
do you know there is Qi from the environment in
the first place? If there was no Qi, you can't
enhance anything. You must first tap the Qi source.
And WHAT exactly is the type of Qi is the house
is receiving?
Tell
me more about this Forms (Luan Tou).
Let's
say, your best direction is East. If you have
four houses and they all face East. Assuming you
have the internals exactly the same. What is the
difference between you facing East is New York's
Trump Towers, Los Angeles' Beverly Hills, Kuala
Lumpur's Kenny Hills or Hong Kong's Victoria peak?
Your BaZhai directional effect will work differently
depending on WHERE you are located. The forms
are different. The forms will render your beneficial
direction powerless in some instances and in other
instances, account for a less than favourable
direction.
Everyone
knows forms affect the flying stars. What exactly
are the forms you need to affect these stars?
When we talk about an 'up the mountain, down the
river' formation needs to see a mountain in front
and water at the rear -WHAT type of mountain do
we exactly need to see? Any mountain? And what
'type' of water do we need? To learn and apply
Forms in Feng Shui, you must first be able to
discern the Forms, identify them, qualify them
and quantify them.
I thought Forms Feng
Shui is about creating water ways and drains in
the house? Five Ghost Carry Treasure and Water
Dragons - Aren't these formulas about forms?
A
formula is only a formula. It is just a 'way'
of doing things in Feng Shui. It is not correct
to just apply a formula when we have not yet analyzed
what is 'available' in the immediate environment
for us to tap.
Five
Ghost Carry Treasure andd Water Dragons are 'created'
structures to facilitate Qi. You still need to
judge whether or not such Qi really exist in your
existing environment before you can 'facilitate'
this Qi into your house.
Your
environment (Luan Tou) must first have such 'Qi'
before you can 'facilitate' (enhance, activate
or what ever you call it) using the Five Ghost
Carry Treasure or so called Water Dragons formulas.
If your environment does not have that particular
type of Qi, then you are wasting your time on
the wrong formula. It's like going into McDonald's
and asking for a plate of Chow Mien. You asking
for the wrong thing in the wrong place!
Forms
or Luan Tou is the study of the capacity of your
environment. What your immediate environment has
to offer BEFORE you use any of your formulas (i.e
Five Ghost Carry Treasure or Water Dragons). You
must first understand what is 'available' in the
environment before you tap the Qi.
